About DiscreteDocs

DiscreteDocs is a free set of 30+ PDF tools — compress, convert, merge, split, sign, edit, redact, OCR and more — that run entirely inside your web browser.

Why we built it

Most online PDF tools upload your file to their servers to process it. That means your contracts, bank statements, ID cards and medical reports sit on someone else's computer, at least for a while. We wanted tools that are just as easy to use, but where the file never leaves your device.

How it works

Modern browsers can run serious software. DiscreteDocs uses proven open-source engines — pdf.js and pdf-lib for PDFs, LibreOffice for Word, Excel and PowerPoint conversion, Tesseract for OCR in 120+ languages, PDFium for true redaction — compiled to run in your browser. When you press a button, your own device does the work. Nothing is sent to us.

What it costs

The tools are free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits. Because the work happens on your device, running DiscreteDocs costs us very little, which is how we can keep it free.
