Compress PDF

Reduce the size of a PDF so it fits email and upload limits. Pick a strength, or set an exact size such as 200 KB.

Private by design: your files are processed on your device and never uploaded.

How to compress PDF

  1. Add one or more PDF files.
  2. Choose “Make it smaller” with a strength, or “Reach a size” and pick the size in KB.
  3. Press “Compress PDF” and download the smaller file.

About Compress PDF

Most of a PDF's size usually comes from photos and scans inside it. The compressor shrinks those pictures to a sensible sharpness, removes duplicate images and leftover data, and keeps text sharp and searchable. For forms that need a file under a limit — common for exam and government applications — use “Reach a size”.

Questions

Is it safe to compress a PDF here?

Yes. The work happens inside your own browser, so the file is never uploaded to a server — not ours, not anyone's. That makes it safe for contracts, bank statements, ID cards and other private documents.

How do I compress a PDF to 200 KB or 100 KB?

Choose “Reach a size”, pick 200 KB (or type any size) and press Compress. The tool tries stronger settings until the file fits.

Will the text get blurry?

No. Text and drawings stay sharp; only pictures inside the PDF are reduced.

Why didn't my PDF get much smaller?

PDFs made mostly of text are already small. If a file is mostly fonts and text, there is little left to remove.

Can I compress several PDFs at once?

Yes — add them all; you get one .zip with every compressed file.

Is it really free?

Yes — compressing is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

Can I compress a PDF on my phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers. Nothing to install. It works best in Google Chrome.
